An early Erin Go Bragh to you! My question is that if you were a boss, would you schedule a "team building" session on one of the most important holidays on the calendar - St. Patrick's Day? (Chicago and Savannah turn their rivers green for goodness sake!) Well, that's what happened -- St. Mark and I cannot go and see the U2 cover band at Amos'....darn!...because the boss is hosting go-cart races for the management team... And, so it means we have to celebrate St. Pat's a bit early (tomorrow!) Mark loves the corned beef and cabbage (the kids do too - go figure!) And, I make my famous Irish soda bread...an extra loaf is in order for Casey's World Geography class (they have had more cooking extra credits in this class than I EVER remembered in Home Ec!) Cead Mile Failte! Shlante!
Oh...AWESOME QUOTE OF THE WEEK by the DIVINE MISS M!
"Give a girl the correct footwear and she can conquer the world." --- Bette Midler
This is so true...shoes can empower you in the most unexpected set of circumstances...like today...
I wore my Timberland boots on the Cub Scout camp out today and literally conquered the torrential downpour and a tornado warning and a bunch of dads trying to live their "model" glory days...uh, by model, not GQ, I mean as in airplane, car or the like -- the dads built a rocket...err, I mean the kids built a rocket...AND, I packed, unpacked, packed and unpacked TOO MUCH camping gear today...(Okay weather turned to the very un-okay!) Which brings me to the question...Could I have faired better today with Dorothy's FABULOUS ruby red slippers than some clunky old skiing boots (even though in said boots, I was able to run through the woods, over roots, branches and slippery red clay?) I am thinking I could've done it in those fabulous sparkly specimens...Dorothy survived the twister and those creepy monkeys in those sassy, sequin-bedazzled heels...I survived massive pellets of rain, wind, overzealous dad/engineer wannabes and a bunch of Cub Scouts (a la creepy monkeys)...I'd so kick Dorothy's butt!
And now that I am thinking about it, mentioning the Emerald City, St. Pat's Day and the power of great shoes, I have a FABULOUS pair of green shoes that I got for my birthday that I will don on Monday...wishing I were at Amos' listening to the U2 cover band...So my plans on Monday? I will eat the left over soda bread and wail a mean "Sunday Bloody Sunday" as the kids watch and just shake their heads...(they will have green eggs and milk for breakfast by the way)...
Life is short, buy the shoes (in lots of different colors)...The luck of the Irish to you!
